The spices boost metabolism and work to calm inflammation. Together they all provide a healthy mix of antioxidants to combat the elements that contribute to auto-immune diseases.

What We Avoided:

By going organic we avoided synthetic fertilizers that are difficult for our bodies to break down and process in a healthy way. We also avoided nutrient dead food by juicing from fresh farmers market foods, that have been picked within a day or two (for the most part).

Our goal is to live happily now to live happily later and this food category just doesn't follow along.

But have no fear, heart healthy Cashew milk is here. Creamy like milk, flavored to your liking and minus the common substances that make their way to the animal's milk and eventually cause negative reactions in our bodies. In this recipe, we've created a perfect treat for snacks and dishes like our Raw Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies or our delicious gut friendly Pumpkin Pie

4-6 Dates

Washing and soaking nuts before using them is key in removing gut irritating lectins. Lectins are the defense shield the food has against predators and in this case irritating our gut lining making it harder to digest. Once removed though we enjoy the healthy amounts of digestible fiber and nutrients associated with it. This milk also contains powerful antioxidants to help fight free radicals from damaging our cells.

What We Avoided:

With avoiding dairy we've avoided substances and added ingredients that have made their way into the milk and now cause inflammation or worse in our bodies. Gut irritating substances that make the rest of our digestion and processing nutrients hard. By going organic we've also avoided harmful synthetic fertilizers found with inorganic ingredients.

Hydrating Digestion Aiding Lemon Cucumber Water

Ahhh, it's refreshing and a huge part in this repairing the immune system and healing from auto-immune diseases. We've always heard it's great for losing weight but it's effects with the digestive system are even greater. Easy to make, store and consume when feeling dehydrated.

With Crohn's disease dehydration is a very present element to fight against due to all of the flushing our body does when rejecting digestion. This is common for any auto-immune disorder that effects your bowel movements (didn't want to go there but had to). Mixing in a nutrient dense water not only hydrates your body again but provides elements to heal as well.

Ingredients:

1 Lemon, sliced

1/2 Cucumber, sliced

1 tbsp Cayenne Pepper

32 oz Purified Water

Instructions:

Place all ingredients in glass pitcher and store in fridge over night (or at least a few hours)

Nutrition Gained:

Lemons not only detoxify the body but they aid in digestion by stimulating your body to slow down the digestion process. Cucumbers help fight inflammation by having a calming effect with enzymes. Cayenne pepper aids in digestion as well by stimulating the salvary glands (the first part of the digestion process)

What We Avoided:

We avoided all added extras that are included in purifying water and common added ingredients to flavored water that to just that, enhance the flavor. By going natural and organic we are avoiding common synthetic fertilizers from entering our system, as well.
